What We Do

More about the Bird Watching & Wildlife Club...

The Bird Watching & Wildlife Club (BWWC) was established in 2008 to offer visitors to the Highlands of Scotland a new kind of wildlife watching experience - one in which their time is their own.  We believe in allowing our Guests to create their own unique programme of visits and experiences depending on what it is they most want to see, but we provide any help and advice they may need in order to achieve this

Based at the imposing 50-bedroom Grant Arms Hotel in Grantown-on-Spey, the BWWC has its own unique facility within the Hotel with our Club Room which consists of a wildlife information centre and a Bookshop, a Natural History Library and a 100-seater Lecture Theatre, the 'Osprey Suite', where we can screen films and host evening talks from a range of visiting guest speakers.

The BWWC Team currently consists of one part-time staff member, Sue Williams as well as local wildlife guides John Poyner, Simon Pawsey, Richard Thaxton and Sue Sykes, who are all very experienced in bird and wildlife watching and the local area.  The team is on hand at various times to offer advice and practical information to Guests when it comes to the best sites to visit for wildlife at any particular time of year. We can also provide information on the huge range of wildlife-related activities which may be going on in the area during your stay, from Land Rover Safaris and Boat Trips, to Guided Walks and watches at Evening Hides.

Anyone staying at the Hotel is welcome to use the facilities and join in the events run by the BWWC Team during their stay. These include morning Drop in sessions and evening Briefings most days where information can be exchanged and questions asked, Wildlife Film screenings, Talks by our Guest Speakers and Guided Walks and Field Trips with our Wildlife Guides.

Throughout the year, we also offer Special Event packages, from a Wildlife Book Festival to special breaks at Christmas and Hogmanay, fully guided weeks with some of the UK’s best known and loved TV Wildlife Celebrities and themed weeks such as our Autumn/Red Deer Week.

We are always delighted to help you plan your holiday with the Bird Watching and Wildlife Club at the Grant Arms Hotel. Please don't hesitate to contact us if you have any questions.
