Evening Talk: The Blackbird Diaries’ and ‘Curlew Calling by Karen Lloyd

 Karen Lloyd is the author the prize-winning ‘The Gathering Tide; A Journey Around the Edgelands of Morecambe Bay’ (Saraband 2016,) which was included in The Observer’s top books of 2016.  Her second book, ‘The Blackbird Diaries – A Year with Wildlife,’ (Saraband 2017,) is a nature diary that also explores current issues around land use and species loss. She writes poetry that is concerned with the environment and is the editor of Curlew Calling; An Anthology of Poetry, Nature Writing and Images in Celebration of Curlew, published to raise funds for curlew conservation in the UK. She is the founding member of Curlew Country South Cumbria, whose remit is to support breeding populations of curlew through education and by working with local farmers.
